With my new book in hand, I was eager to get feedback from future users. The project was becoming real and that motivated me to keep going. I asked a few children and friends to view the draft book and took notes of all the comments that were made. All of the children between ages 6-10 loved the book, the details, the story, and the illustrations and even wanted to show their teachers at school. Phew!! There were a couple of words that they didn’t understand but overall it was comprehensible and there were some great conversations between the adult and child.
I listened also to the parent's input. They shared with me the interesting discussions the book enabled them to have with their children. I was very pleased to hear this as it was one of the purposes of these books.
I made a list of all the comments and suggestions that were made by the children and the adults. This enabled me to tweak the book to make it even better.
Tweaking takes a lot of time!
One parent asked me where the bees were as I usually put a little bee as part of my signature in my other illustrations. So I have added a few for children to spot as it seems to amuse the adults also.
